The Automated Geographic Surveillance System (AGSS) is simple
electronic application used to record and save the basic information of
diseased cases. These data are transferred with the geographic coordinates
of their homes to a web server through the internet by using mobile
devices supplied by the geographic positioning system (GPS). We made
the application easy enough to be filled by any level of data collectors by
allowing them to choose from drop menus. Date, time, and the
geographic coordinates are uploaded automatically. The application is
highly secured. The application cannot be logged in without a username
and a password given by the system administrator. The saved data cannot
be edited or deleted except by the system administrator

This is a simple GPS compatible software application for reporting cases
of three infectious diseases: Malaria, Dengue Fever and Rift Valley Fever.
The system can be installed on different smart phones and tablets. Two
version were developed, one for Android system and another for iOS. The
application can be downloaded from Google Play and Apple Store. All
application interfaces are bilingual, Arabic and English. It is secured by a
username and a password, which are given by the system administrator.
After logging in, the field user can report new cases by filling a simple
form with the basic data about each case. Most of the fields are filled by
selecting options from predefined drop menus. When the device is
connected to the internet (online), the case data will be sent automatically
to a specific web server. When the device is not connected to the internet
(offline), data will be saved and sent automatically once the device
becomes connected (online). Data received by the web server will be used
in certain plotting and analyzing processes. The mobile application
includes a help button to describe how to use the application.
